Supporting entrepreneurship and self-employment is an important part of EU policy for achieving smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. This seminar will present recent research results on various aspects of self-employment. The first session will focus on the profile of the self-employed, the second will examine the conditions faced by the self-employed and their access to social benefits, healthcare and training and the third will examine the policies implemented in EU countries to encourage people, especially the unemployed, to take up self-employment.
